Migraine may begin at any age, sometimes in childhood. Once established, it may continue for many years.
More than half of migraine sufferrers belong to families in which migraine has occured in other relatives—grandparents, parents, brothers, and sisters. Migraine occurs somewhat more frequently among women than men. In women, migraine attacks often are related to menstruation. The attacks may lessen or disappear during the menopause. They may increase or decrease during pregnancy.
Migraine vicitims are usually perfectionists who drive themselves toward some goal. Possibly migraine tends to run in families because persons in the same family have similar personality characteristics.
An enjoyable recreation to counterbalance mental strain may help, or a reevaluation of one's religious philosophy.
